Our Story

Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority was founded on October 24, 1909 by seven Jewish women at Barnard College in New York City. Their goal was to foster lifelong friendship and sisterhood, academics, social involvement and community service while providing a home away from home for their members. The dream that was born in a dorm room at Barnard College in 1909 continues to succeed, prosper and thrive on over 50 college and university campuses nationwide.

AEPhi is proud to have a number of successful and famous women among its sisters. Some of the more famous AEPhi sisters include Erica Hill, Anchor of CNN (Alpha Chi, Boston University), Judith Resnik, the Second female astronaut (Alpha Nu, Carnegie Mellon University), Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Supreme Court Justice (Kappa, Cornell University) and our own Annette Greenfield Strauss who was the first female mayor of Dallas, Texas (Omega, University of Texas).

Our Chapter

The Omega Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Phi was founded at The University of Texas at Austin in 1925. We are established members of the University Panhellenic Council (UPC) and have a huge impact on campus. As of 2021, our chapter has had the highest GPA Ranking in the University Panhellenic Council for three of the past four years. We have a long history of academic achievement, and continue to set the standard for academic excellence on campus.

We recognize that we come from a history of rich traditions, and the members of the Omega Chapter strive to continue the vision first set forth by the founding members of AEPhi. We are committed to building on their legacy by focusing on important causes such as community service and philanthropy, dedicating ourselves to continued growth through academic excellence and leadership development, and making sure all our members grow in a positive environment that allows them to reach their full potential
